How to generate random letters
Choose a letter set and quantity, open More options if you need case, exclusions or no-repeat selection, then press Generate.
The result is real selectable text. Copy it immediately, keep an optional local history or show it full screen for a group.
Choose the right letter set
All letters contains the 26 English base letters A–Z. Vowels contains A, E, I, O and U; Y remains under Consonants because the preset follows English classification.
Use Custom for individual accented Latin letters or a smaller set of your own. Entries are normalized and duplicates are removed before selection.
Letters with or without repeats
With repeats allowed, every position starts from the same active set, so a letter may appear more than once.
No repeats draws without replacement. A selected base letter leaves the set for the rest of that result, so the requested quantity cannot exceed the remaining letters.
Practical ways to use random letters
Use a single letter for a word game or language warm-up, several letters for a writing constraint, or a custom set to focus a brainstorming session.
- Start a timed vocabulary round.
- Give a group a fair order of letter prompts.
- Create initials for project or character names.
- Add constraints to a story, sketch or ideation exercise.
- Practise sounds and spelling with a chosen letter set.
A simple, transparent draw
Before each draw, the tool builds the exact set shown on screen. Exclusions are removed, duplicates count once, and the repeat option decides whether a selected letter can return.
The browser then chooses among the available letters. This is intended for everyday games and creative activities, not certified or high-stakes use.
